I regret little, but in looking back I am disappointed at my not participating in a reflection project for 2011. That year was so excruciating and painful and joyful and liberating and full that it is very much a blur of change. I should have recorded some part of it - though a peek into my December Daily 2011 will certainly give an indication to why the project did not get completed!

I enjoyed participating in reverb10 which resulted in a beautiful blog, a wonderful keepsake album and a collection of incredible memories - fully recorded. For 2010, I will always remember where I was and where I was planning on going. I want to go through that same exercise again for 2012. This past year was equally worth remembering.

Not that I have an abundance of time this year, but I do have a great desire, so that will have to do! I have curated a number of prompts from many resources. Those I've selected can be found below as well as a few of my own, they have each been attributed as best I can.

day three | remember

What is the one thing you did this year you think you'll remember for the rest of your life? (Author: Me)

+ + + + +

Full to overflowing with new experiences and adventures, challenges and opportunities will be the hallmark of 2012. This was the last year for me to have all four kids living under one roof every day – at least until September when Claire went into boarding at Appleby.

The highlights would have to be our many big and small trips. This was a year unlike any before it. 2012 was filled with travel for everyone. It was hectic and wonderful!

Claire started the year with a trip to Kingston, ON with her volleyball team.

Cole headed off to Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston for a music tour with the Cantus Choir from school.

Claire went on the Senior Arts Trip to Europe: London, Paris, Florence, Rome and Pompeii were stops along the way. What an incredible opportunity.

Cole and Caden were off to Florida for their March Break visit with Nanna and Grampy in Jupiter. They had a fantastic time!

Chloé came with Wanda and I on a last-minute trip to Las Vegas. We didn’t want to be left out of all the March Break excitement.

Tucson called again and I joined my sister Beth for what I hope will be an annual trip to Canyon Ranch. It is such an incredible place to recharge.

Claire had various baseball tournaments as close as Mississauga and Brampton all the way to Stratford. The boys took the bus to football games in Chatham, Sarnia, London and Kitchener.

Our annual summer trip to Cape Cod was complicated by a trip home for a baseball tournament for Claire and upon her return, enhanced with stops in Cooperstown, NY and Darien Lake on our way back to Oakville. What a fantastic time!

I took the kids to Stratford for a long weekend of plays. It was fantastic! I really want to instill a love of the arts and that it’s okay to watch, you don’t always have to be the participant to appreciate an art or activity.

Temagami and Pine Crest for Chloé and Caden to kick off the new school year. The week later Chloé headed back up north to attend a Leadership Conference.

Claire and I headed to Minneapolis to see Dr. Maya Angelou. We had the added treat of seeing my friend Cathy Zielske and her daughter Aidan for the evening.

Our year will end with a first for all of us: a trip to Barbados for Claire’s 2012 | 2012 birthday.  We are all so very excited!

The ONE trip I believe we will all remember, forever, was taken at Thanksgiving. The crazy non-stop 19-hour drive to the beautiful Maritimes for Claire to tour UNB and Dalhousie, our visits with friends along the way and sharing Thanksgiving dinner with my family. The warmth and kindness shown to me and my children was overwhelming. Then we had the crazy 19-hour drive back home again. I don’t know how anxious I am to do it again, but it was FANTASTIC!
